The report deals with the dynamics of resectability in 30,456 patients with lung cancer registered in Leningrad in 1968-1985 versus such important characteristics of morbidity as yearly increase in tumor incidence and increasing age of patients. It also discusses possible total levels of operability and resectability as well as those in different age groups versus sex, diagnostic, functional and biological characteristics and patients' refusal to be operated. Standards of surgical treatment for lung cancer in certain localities should be evaluated versus expected level of resectability, and age and sex.
