Development of a stroke family support and education program.

An interdisciplinary stroke family support and education program can provide families with basic information about stroke and rehabilitation in addition to providing support to families as they adapt to the crisis of stroke. The theoretical basis for such a program is discussed in this article as well as program development, implementation and evaluation. Included are program goals, content outlines and a referral process.
