The genetic background of cleft children was studied at the Orthodontic Department of the Sofia Stomatological Faculty. A total of 149 members of 10 families were examined. The most-encountered microsymptoms were rotations of the lateral incisors and canines near the cleft. The results obtained from this, however, small number of subjects were not indicative of genetic factors.
