Abstract
The emergency department is an environment described by the staff working there as 'different', with its own particular codes and way of working. Faced with the constant flow of patients, the need to guide, relieve, treat, how can nurses find the time to reassure? What is the nature of the nurse-patient relationship in emergency departments? Student nurses share their views of emergency departments.
