[Carcinoma of the appendix arising on the basis of a mucinous cystadenoma].

The author describes a rare case of mucinous adenocarcinoma arising in a mucinous cystadenoma of the appendix. The tumor developed into a mucocele which subsequently perforated. At a second operation two years later a malignant pseudomyxoma peritonei was found.
