The order Mucorales, the largest in number of species within the Mucoromycotina, comprises typically fast-growing saprotrophic fungi. During a study of the fungal diversity of undiscovered taxa in Korea, two novel mucoralean strains, CNUFC-GWD3-9 and CNUFC-EGF1-4, were isolated from specific habitats including freshwater and fecal samples, respectively. On the basis of their morphological characteristics and sequence analyses of internal transcribed spacer and large subunit ribosomal DNA, the CNUFC-GWD3-9 and CNUFC-EGF1-4 isolates were confirmed to be and , respectively. It is ecologically, pathologically, and mycologically significant to find such rare zygomycetous fungi in such specific habitats.
毛霉目是毛霉亚门中物种数量最多的目,通常由生长迅速的腐生真菌组成。在一项对韩国未发现分类群的真菌多样性研究中,分别从淡水和粪便样本等特定栖息地分离出两株新型毛霉目菌株,即CNUFC-GWD3-9和CNUFC-EGF1-4。根据它们的形态特征以及内部转录间隔区和核糖体大亚基DNA的序列分析,确认分离出的CNUFC-GWD3-9和CNUFC-EGF1-4分别属于 和 。在这样的特定栖息地发现此类罕见的接合菌纲真菌在生态学、病理学和真菌学方面都具有重要意义。
