Arthroscopic management of pyarthrosis. An overview.

The author evaluates the place of arthroscopic techniques in the treatment of bacterial infection of joints. Based on a review of the pertinent literature and an analysis of clinical material consisting of 11 cases, he concludes that pyarthrosis can be managed successfully by arthroscopic debridement combined with appropriate antibiotics and early institution of a program of range-of-motion exercises.
