Labour analgesia, though practiced worldwide, is not very popular in low-income countries. The aim of the study was to assess the awareness, attitude, acceptance, and reasons for hindrance of labour analgesia among patients visiting a tertiary care center in the capital city Methods: It was a cross sectional study conducted in Obstetrics and Gynecology outpatient department of Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital in the month of August 2017. All pregnant patients presenting for antenatal checkup was included. Data was collected based on a questionnaire after informed consent. Statistical analysis was done in SPSS version 20 and results were expressed in frequencies and percentage.
Total of 270 pregnant women participated in the study. Out of these forty-four (16.3%) patients were aware about labour analgesia. The acceptance rate was high (72.2%). Majority (84.6%) had no problem with expenditure associated with labour analgesia.
Despite low awareness about painless delivery among the antenatal women, the acceptance rate is high.
分娩镇痛虽在全球范围内都有开展,但在低收入国家却不太受欢迎。本研究旨在评估首都一家三级医疗中心就诊患者对分娩镇痛的知晓情况、态度、接受程度及阻碍因素。方法:这是一项于2017年8月在加德满都医学院教学医院妇产科门诊进行的横断面研究。纳入所有前来进行产前检查的孕妇。在获得知情同意后,根据问卷收集数据。使用SPSS 20版进行统计分析,结果以频率和百分比表示。
共有270名孕妇参与研究。其中44名(16.3%)患者知晓分娩镇痛。接受率较高(72.2%)。大多数(84.6%)患者对分娩镇痛相关费用没有问题。
尽管产前女性对无痛分娩的知晓率较低,但接受率较高。
