This double-blind study demonstrates in 144 patients that veralipride is more efficient than a placebo in the treatment of a post menopausal hot flashes. After 3 successive treatment periods of 20 days, at a dose of 1 tablet per day, there is a significant reduction in frequency and intensity of hot flashes in the group with veralipride. This effect is prolonged during 3 months after cessation of therapy, although it is progressively less marked. Neuropsychic symptoms are also improved. Clinical and biological tolerance has been excellent.
