Abstract
Skeletal muscles were subjected to echoscopy in order to detect the heterozygote carriers of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The data were compared to the biochemical test--detection of serum creatine kinase activity. Echoscopy of 15 obligatory carriers and 47 control females yielded the test sensitivity of 53% and specificity of 94%. The use of both techniques is suggested.
