Application and technique of intraoperative ultrasound performed during paediatric surgery has proved useful in localising renal calculi. Using ultrasound rather than X-rays has the advantage that it can be used during the entire operation without any radiation exposure. Concrements can also be seen with ultrasound that do not usually show up when using conventional radiography.
