is widely distributed in the northern hemisphere, especially in eastern Asia. There has been no comprehensive taxonomic study of Taiwanese taxa for some time, and researchers could not agree on a consistent treatment of the genus. Therefore, we revised the genus by literature review and type specimen examination along with comparison of morphology, karyotype and pollen characteristics. Only one species Hayata was recognized in this study. Ying and (Hayata) Masamune & Simada are regarded as varieties of and are here presented as two new combinations, P.arisanensevar.chingshuishanianum and P.arisanensevar.formosanum.
广泛分布于北半球，尤其是东亚地区。一段时间以来，尚未对台湾地区的分类群进行全面的分类学研究，研究人员对该属的一致处理意见也未能达成共识。因此，我们通过文献综述、模式标本检查以及形态学、核型和花粉特征的比较对该属进行了修订。本研究仅确认了一个物种，即早田氏（Hayata）。应氏（Ying）和正木氏与岛田氏（(Hayata) Masamune & Simada）被视为该物种的变种，并在此作为两个新组合呈现，即阿里山冷水花变种清水山冷水花（P.arisanense var.chingshuishanianum）和阿里山冷水花变种台湾冷水花（P.arisanense var.formosanum）。
