Ossification in the quadriceps mechanism after total patellectomy is a common finding. The relationship of knee symptoms and the extent of postpatellectomy ossifications is debatable. Reported is the case of a 74-year-old woman with extensive ossification in the patellar tendon following patellectomy and knee arthroplasty. The ossification was associated with only minimal discomfort. Functional results following patellectomy were not affected in patients previously observed by the authors.
全髌骨切除术后股四头肌机制中的骨化是常见现象。膝关节症状与髌骨切除术后骨化程度之间的关系存在争议。本文报告了一例74岁女性患者，在髌骨切除及膝关节置换术后髌腱出现广泛骨化。该骨化仅伴有轻微不适。作者之前观察的患者中，髌骨切除术后的功能结果未受影响。
