Brain tumors. What are the general and focal effects?

In most patients with brain tumor, manifestations are due to a combination of increased intracranial pressure and focal changes in brain function. Specific signs and symptoms depend more on the location of the tumor than its histology, and tumors affecting vital sites in the brain may cause rapid deterioration and death. Increased intracranial pressure alone may blunt the intellect and cause confusion and memory difficulties. In some cases, confusion is caused by the effects of the therapeutic agents.
