Abstract

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this study was to systematically evaluate the association between methyl-CpG binding domain 4, DNA glycosylase () Glu346Lys polymorphism and cancer risk.

METHODS

A comprehensive document retrieval from the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), EMBASE, and PubMed databases was performed through 1 September 2019. The strength of the correlation was assessed using the pooled odds ratio (ORs) and 95% confidence interval (CIs).

RESULTS

Five relevant studies were retrieved following screening, including 1804 cases and 2193 controls. We found no association between Glu346Lys polymorphism and cancer risk under all genetic models. Nevertheless, a subgroup analysis based on country showed a strong association in the Chinese population. Under the recessive model, Chinese individuals with the Lys/Lys genotype had a higher risk of cancer (OR = 1.37, 95% CI = 1.11-1.70).

CONCLUSION

Analysis of the Glu346Lys polymorphism in different populations will help to elucidate the pathogenesis of cancer. The polymorphism can be utilized as a biomarker for cancer susceptibility among Chinese people.

目的

本研究旨在系统评估甲基-CpG 结合域 4、DNA 糖基化酶()Glu346Lys 多态性与癌症风险之间的关联。

方法

通过 2019 年 9 月 1 日对中国国家知识基础设施(CNKI)、EMBASE 和 PubMed 数据库进行全面文献检索。使用合并优势比(ORs)和 95%置信区间(CIs)评估相关性的强度。

结果

经过筛选,共检索到 5 项相关研究,包括 1804 例病例和 2193 例对照。我们发现,在所有遗传模型下,Glu346Lys 多态性与癌症风险均无关联。然而,基于国家的亚组分析显示,在中国人群中存在强烈的关联。在隐性模型下,携带 Lys/Lys 基因型的中国人患癌症的风险更高(OR=1.37,95%CI=1.11-1.70)。

结论
