Esophageal fistula: demonstration by CT.

While barium esophagography is useful in revealing fistulas between the esophagus and trachea or bronchus, it is not adequate to show those between esophagus and lung or mediastinum. In this study, a patient with esophago-pulmonary and esophago-mediastinal fistulas was evaluated by CT, which proved to be more effective in showing fistulas between the esophagus and lung or mediastinum.
