From the Department of the traumatic surgery of the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-Universität Frankfurt a.M. 726 injuries of the tibia where treated from 1. 1. 1975 to 31. 12. 1986 and 50 fractures of the tibial bone where stabilised with a AO-DC-plate which where placed posterior of the tibia. The reasons for this are discussed an the results are explained.
