The heat of decomposition of potassium perchlorate into potassium chloride and oxygen has been determined in a bomb calorimeter. The process may be represented by the equation: Combination of this datum with the heat of formation of KCl(c) gives -103.22 ±0.15 kcal/mole for the standard heat of formation of KClO(c) at 25 °C.
