OBJECTIVES
Intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) is a common morbid condition in critically ill patients. Abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is a severe condition that requires surgical treatment, and it is an evolution of undiagnosed and untreated IAH. This study aims to highlight the importance of clinical evidence, and proposes screening as well as medical protocols for IAH and ACS, in intensive care units.
METHODS
Database searches were performed and the recommended World Society of the Abdominal Compartment Syndrome standards and protocols were used.
RESULTS
Protocols for IAH and ACS investigation, measurements, management and control, tailored for the Brazilian ICU reality, were indicated.
CONCLUSION
We extensively detailed IAH medical evidence, using the most up-to-date literature about IAH care and how to measure intra-abdominal pressure (IAP), which can be easily reproduced in any intensive care unit.
目的
腹内高压（IAH）是危重症患者常见的病态情况。腹腔间隔室综合征（ACS）是一种需要手术治疗的严重病症，是未被诊断和治疗的IAH的进展。本研究旨在强调临床证据的重要性，并提出重症监护病房中IAH和ACS的筛查及医疗方案。
方法
进行数据库检索，并使用推荐的腹腔间隔室综合征世界协会标准和方案。
结果
给出了针对巴西重症监护病房实际情况量身定制的IAH和ACS调查、测量、管理及控制方案。
结论
我们广泛详细地阐述了IAH的医学证据，采用了关于IAH护理及如何测量腹内压（IAP）的最新文献，这些内容在任何重症监护病房都可轻松重现。
