Abstract

An isolate originally obtained from pond water in Osaka in 1992 and identified as , was subsequently classified as . According to molecular phylogenetic analyses based on the internal transcribed spacer regions of the nuclear ribosomal RNA and mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 genes, this isolate was shown to represent a new species, described here as sp. nov. In addition, two further new combinations are introduced in as and . based on their DNA phylogeny.
