Abstract

Amphibian cutaneous glands secrete toxins used in different vital functions including passive defense. Through Desorption Electrospray Ionization-Imaging we analyzed the distribution of the major toxins of the toad parotoid macroglands. Alkaloids and steroids showed characteristic distribution and intensity within the glands and were also present at lower levels on the skin surface. A comprehensive overview of toxins distribution in toads' skin might help to understand their full biological role within the amphibians.

两栖动物的皮肤腺分泌用于不同重要功能(包括被动防御)的毒素。通过解吸电喷雾电离成像技术,我们分析了蟾蜍腮腺大腺体中主要毒素的分布情况。生物碱和类固醇在腺体内呈现出特征性的分布和强度,在皮肤表面也有较低水平的存在。全面了解蟾蜍皮肤中毒素的分布情况可能有助于理解它们在两栖动物体内的完整生物学作用。
