1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was applied to the study of glucose metabolism of B lymphocytes (B cells) activated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in a complex medium. The glucose in the medium is degraded to produce lactic acid by B cells activated with LPS to a far larger extent than by non-activated cells.
