[The role of N. I. Vavilov in the development of Soviet genetics and animal selection].

N. I. Vavilov had been greatly interested in the problems of animal industry, genetics, breeding, origin and evolution of domestic animals. Due to his initiative and active participation in discussing these problems, important programmes were developed. The unique ideas of Nikolai Ivanovich had significant impact on a rise of animal genetics in the USSR.
