Abstract
A review of basic prosthodontic principles and the muscle physiology on which they are based is presented. Proper reduction of fractures of the edentulous mandible and maxilla requires the incorporation of a correctly determined freeway space into either the patient's preexisting dentures or into the split Gunning-type splints.
