[Hypersensitivity to insects in the agricultural and domestic setting].

The signs of hypersensitivity to insects are frequently seen in general practice and it is clear that it is essential, in order to decide on suitable practice, to know the epidemiological and pathophysiological mechanisms. Specific hypersensitivities that fall into the category of true allergy have a prognosis that may be dangerous and which therefore justify urgent treatment and especially the preventive treatment that has been recognised for the last few years as effective. Non-specific hypersensitivities with secondary symptoms of inflammation may also require preventative action, without resorting to hyposensitisation.
