The role of the prosthodontist in secondary management of facial trauma.

Major head and neck trauma affects the midface and intraoral structures in most accident victims. The prosthodontist can provide a much-needed treatment service during the rehabilitation of these persons. Secondary management is a complicated and protracted experience. An interdisciplinary approach with consultations, careful planning, and integrated surgical/prosthodontic management of all phases of treatment can provide the patient with a most satisfactory result.
