Abstract

The spiny frog is endemic to a narrow region of southwest China and its taxonomic validation is still controversial. Based on COI gene sequences of 110 individuals from seven populations of and its related species, we investigated the phylogenetic position and population genetic structure of the species. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that was deeply genetically separated from its closely related species , indicating the validation of the species. All samples of were clustered into two divergent lineages. Haplotype network, AMOVA, and genetic distance estimations also supported the separations of the two groups. Neutrality tests indicated that one lineage has been likely independently experienced a recent population expansion, leading to a secondary contact area between the two lineages.

棘胸蛙是中国西南部一个狭窄区域的特有物种,其分类学验证仍存在争议。基于来自七个种群及其近缘物种的110个个体的细胞色素氧化酶亚基I(COI)基因序列,我们研究了该物种的系统发育位置和种群遗传结构。系统发育分析表明,该物种与其近缘物种在遗传上有很大差异,这表明该物种的有效性得到了验证。棘胸蛙的所有样本聚为两个不同的谱系。单倍型网络、分子方差分析(AMOVA)和遗传距离估计也支持这两个群体的分离。中性检验表明,其中一个谱系可能独立经历了近期的种群扩张,导致两个谱系之间出现了次生接触区。
