Abstract

A revision of the Central American species of the genus was undertaken to update the knowledge of the Central American species of the genus. Material of several collections was reviewed, using original descriptions and keys, and comparing with the type material. Twenty-five species of the genus were found in Central American material, including nine new species: Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, , Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, , Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, , Nestor-Arriola, Solís and Toledo-Hernández, , Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, , Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, , Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, , González, Větrovec and Nestor-Arriola, , and Nestor-Arriola and Toledo-Hernández, Nomenclatural changes include (Weise), , (Gorham), , and Leng, . for Mulsant. The male genitalia of the species Gorhan, Mulsant, Weise, and Gorhan are described and illustrated for the first time. New records include Crotch and Mulsant (Costa Rica and Guatemala), (Weise) (El Salvador), and Gorham (Panamá). A key to the species is included.
