The present trends in care have been reviewed. There is an inclination for the use of the patient's esophagus when at all possible rather than resort to interposition. Following the evolution of treatment for the primary tracheoesophageal anomalies, current efforts are being directed toward treatment of associated anomalies and long-term problems associated with the lesions. The result has been an overall improved survival rate and decrease in morbidity.
