Blood pressure rates have been registered children of two schools of Guadasuar, Valencia, during medical examination of the school year 1983-84. Total children studied were 684: 371 male and 313 female. Three samples were registered from every child. Blood pressure average values obtained show significant statistical differences (p less than 0.001) when compared to the study of SANCHEZ. Number of hypertensive children found was 9 (1.32%). Blood pressure of these children reviewed a year later (two samples) showed that hypertension persisted in 4 (all of them obese). No severe hypertension was encountered. Had it 95 percentile of SANCHEZ's study been taken as a reference, number of hypertensives should have increased to 39 (5.70%).
