The effects of the functional membrane covering on the gas emissions and bacterial community during dairy cow manure aerobic composting were investigated. A lab-scale aerobic composting experiment was conducted with the control group (CK), Gore group (Gore), and ZT group (ZT), namely, without and with two functional membranes. Covering the functional membrane retained heat and improved the seed germination index in Gore and ZT groups. Compared with the CK group, the Gore membrane decreased NH and NO emissions by 11.77% and 26.40%, respectively. The ZT membrane decreased NO and CO emissions by 68.44% and 1.56%, respectively. The Gore and ZT membranes decreased the global warming potential by 16.97% and 53.41%, respectively. Moreover, Covering the two functional membranes improved the Actinobacteria relative abundance and were conducive to the degradation of volatile solid. Altogether, membrane-covered aerobic composting is an important technology for the resource utilization of organic waste.
