Transverse fracture of the glenoid without dislocation.

This is a case report of a 15-year-old boy with an unusual fracture of the glenoid. The mechanism of injury was a fall on the partially extended, abducted arm. The fall produced a fracture with displacement of the inferior half of the glenoid. The technique of open reduction and exposure used differed from the standard approach in that the long head of the triceps was sectioned at its glenoid origin to facilitate the reduction. At one-year follow-up, the patient demonstrated a full range of motion and excellent triceps strength.
