A case of peripheral ameloblastoma in the mandibular gingiva of a 42-year-old man has been reported. The tumor was clinically diagnosed as a papilloma and excised under local anesthesia. There was no connection with the alveolar bone. Histologically, the parenchyma was similar to that of enamel organ and basal cell carcinoma. The epithelial cords were continuous with the mucosal epithelium. There was no recurrence during a two-year period.
