Methoxy-prism[5]arene is demethylated by a supramolecularly assisted reaction. In the presence of a tetramethylammonium cation, is demethylated by BBr in high yield, while in its absence a 55/40 mixture of / is formed. The dealkylation of prismarenes, such as (R = Et, Pr) and , can be easily obtained in high yields in the presence of BBr.
甲氧基 - 棱柱[5]芳烃通过超分子辅助反应进行脱甲基化。在四甲基铵阳离子存在下，它被BBr以高产率脱甲基化，而在其不存在时，会形成 / 的55/40混合物。棱柱芳烃如 （R = 乙基，丙基）和 的脱烷基化反应，在BBr存在下可以很容易地以高产率实现。
