Transposition of the mental nerve in association with orthognathic surgery was performed 25 times in 16 patients. Indications for transposition generally were use of the premolar region for surgical correction of anterior open bite or dentoalveolar prognathism. In one case, reduction of the mandibular base was the surgical indication. Postoperative hypesthesia occurred in 16 mental nerves but sensibility gradually returned to normal in almost all the patients at between six and 18 months. Partial nerve damage occurred accidentally in three cases with reduced sensibility at follow-up.
16例患者共进行了25次颏神经移位联合正颌外科手术。颏神经移位的适应证通常是利用前磨牙区进行手术矫正前牙开颌或牙牙槽前突。1例患者，手术适应证是下颌骨基部缩小。术后16条颏神经出现感觉减退，但几乎所有患者的感觉在6至18个月之间逐渐恢复正常。3例患者意外发生部分神经损伤，随访时感觉减退。
