Improving the economical yield of commonly cultivated crops is one of the most pressing social and scientific issues in modern agriculture. This paper was conducted to investigate the bio-efficacy of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in improving phosphorous (P) utilization and increasing the yield of onion plant grown in sandy soil under a drip irrigation system. The obtained results showed that AMF inoculation of onion and application of 120 kg P fertilizer ha significantly increased the fresh and dry weights, chlorophyll content of onion as well as P concentration in the root, shoot, and bulb during two growing seasons. Moreover, AMF increased the bioavailability of P in the rhizosphere and significantly enhanced the N-utilization by the inoculated plant. The economic yield of the onion plant inoculated by AMF and fertilized by different doses of P fertilizer was much higher than that obtained by the control (without AMF). These findings indicated that inoculating the onion plant in the field with AMF could be very effective in increasing the yield of the onion plant. Additionally, this study suggests AMF as a low-cost and promising candidate for the sustainable production of the onion crop using reclaimed sandy soils and a drip irrigation system.
提高常见栽培作物的经济产量是现代农业中最紧迫的社会和科学问题之一。本文旨在研究丛枝菌根真菌(AMF)在滴灌系统下提高砂质土壤中洋葱植株磷(P)利用率和增加产量方面的生物效应。所得结果表明,在两个生长季节中,对洋葱接种AMF并施用120 kg P肥/公顷,显著增加了洋葱的鲜重和干重、叶绿素含量以及根、茎和鳞茎中的P浓度。此外,AMF提高了根际土壤中P的生物有效性,并显著增强了接种植株对N的利用。接种AMF并施用不同剂量P肥的洋葱植株的经济产量远高于对照(未接种AMF)。这些发现表明,在田间对洋葱植株接种AMF在提高洋葱产量方面可能非常有效。此外,本研究表明AMF是利用再生砂质土壤和滴灌系统实现洋葱作物可持续生产的低成本且有前景的候选者。
