Abstract

Borophosphates are an ideal material class for the design of deep-UV optical functional crystals, yet their practical applications are limited by their small birefringence. Herein, a new mixed-coordinated borophosphate, NH(BPO(OH))·HO, has been successfully designed and synthesized, which exhibits the largest birefringence of all reported borophosphates.
