Abstract

A technique of closure of median sternotomy with trans-sternal figure-of-eight wires is described. This method has the advantages of very stable sternotomy and can be performed by the surgeon without need for surgical assistance. This technique has resulted in 0.4% incidence of dehiscence and no sternal infections.
