Abstract
This is a historical review of school failure, underachievement and underestimation of the ability of children destined for world fame. Many were refused admission to a college of higher education, many failed to secure a university degree, more than 30 were expelled from school or university and several were sent to prison. Some reasons are discussed for the failure of parents and teachers to recognize outstanding ability in children.
