Five cases of postoperative progressive gangrenous wound infection are described in patients who had received whole pelvis irradiation prior to surgery for genital tract cancer. The syndrome described as distinct from Meleney Type I and II ulcers. Predicated on the experience derived, a scheme for its management is proposed.
