Polfuss is an associate professor. She's also the Joint Research Chair in the Nursing of Children at UW-Milwaukee and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

Weight stigma is the devaluation of a person because of excess body weight. Individuals who experience stigmatization are at increased risk for adverse physical and psychological health outcomes.
