Atrial fibrillation (AF) is more likely found in patients with premature ventricular complexes (PVCs). Nonetheless, the outcomes of previous investigations remain inconclusive. To evaluate the link between PVCs and the risk of AF, we did a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Potentially eligible studies were found by searching for published publications indexed in the MEDLINE and EMBASE databases from inception to April 13, 2021, looking for studies that assessed the risk of AF in patients with PVCs vs. those who did not have PVCs. Dersimonian and Laird's random-effect, generic inverse variance technique was used to calculate the pooled risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI).
The meta-analysis includes 6 cohort studies (1 prospective and 5 retrospective cohort studies) with a total of 9,662,088 individuals. We found that patients with PVCs have a significantly higher risk of AF than individuals without PVCs with the pooled RR of 1.90 (95% CI: 1.51-2.39, I=83%).
PVCs are significantly related with a 1.90-fold higher incidence of AF, according to the present systematic review and meta-analysis. Nonetheless, further research is needed to determine how this connection should be treated in clinical practice if it is causal.
心房颤动（AF）在频发室性早搏（PVCs）患者中更为常见。然而，之前的研究结果仍存在争议。为了评估 PVCs 与 AF 风险之间的关系，我们进行了系统评价和荟萃分析。
通过检索 MEDLINE 和 EMBASE 数据库中从建库至 2021 年 4 月 13 日发表的文献，寻找评估 PVCs 患者与无 PVCs 患者 AF 风险的研究，评估纳入潜在合格研究。采用 DerSimonian 和 Laird 的随机效应、通用倒数方差法计算汇总风险比（RR）和 95%置信区间（CI）。
荟萃分析纳入 6 项队列研究（1 项前瞻性和 5 项回顾性队列研究），共 9662088 人。我们发现，与无 PVCs 患者相比，PVCs 患者发生 AF 的风险显著更高，汇总 RR 为 1.90（95%CI：1.51-2.39，I=83%）。
根据本系统评价和荟萃分析，PVCs 与 AF 的发生率显著增加 1.90 倍相关。然而，如果这种关联是因果关系，还需要进一步研究确定在临床实践中应如何处理这种关联。
