With the introduction of other noninvasive imaging procedures, indications for X-rays of the skull have become fewer and more specific. Their correct interpretation remains important, however, to ensure not only that significant abnormalities are not overlooked, but--perhaps more importantly--that failure to recognize normality does not have adverse effects on management.
