In this issue of Molecular Cell, Liu et al. (2022) report that 5'-tRF, a stress-induced transfer RNA-derived RNA fragment (tRF) derived from the 5' halves of cysteine tRNAs, regulates post-transcriptional gene expression, enabling the survival and lung metastasis formation of breast cancers.
