The formation and circulation of bipolar platelet forms in the vasculature have been first studied. All the transitional stages of platelet metamorphosis from disk-shaped to bipolar forms have been traced. The basic functions in bipolar platelets (adhesion and aggregation) were inhibited. Such cells were shown to appear in various pathologic conditions (pheochromocytoma, intravascular coagulation syndrome). Prazosin, alpha-blocker, was capable of inducing reverse metamorphosis accompanied by the recovery of platelet functional properties.
首次对双极血小板形态在脉管系统中的形成和循环进行了研究。追踪了血小板从盘状到双极形态转变的所有过渡阶段。双极血小板的基本功能(黏附和聚集)受到抑制。此类细胞在各种病理状况(嗜铬细胞瘤、血管内凝血综合征)中均有出现。α阻滞剂哌唑嗪能够诱导逆向变形,同时血小板功能特性得以恢复。
