Local composite neurovascular island flap for skin cover in pulp loss of the thumb.

A local composite neurovascular island flap to provide stable skin cover with good soft tissue padding and sensibility for extensive pulp loss of the thumb was used in five patients. The island flap included the dorsoradial branches of the radial digital neurovascular bundle of the thumb.
