Anal and urinary incontinence remains a major problem in spite of many efforts to correct it in the past. The present study describes the development of a new device for controlling anal and urinary incontinence and its successful use in 20 patients. The device is applied to the anorectal area in a noninvasive manner. It provides continence and, upon removal, allows normal bowel movement and urination. The cleaned device is then reapplied. The anorectal area tolerates the device well and no complications have been observed.
