If Catholic hospitals cannot develop cooperative efforts within and among themselves, it will be difficult for them to do so with other health care systems or the government. Their desire to establish a united, comprehensive Catholic health care system is not enough; they must be willing to risk even a partial loss of independence in order to achieve this goal and preserve the Catholic healing ministry.
