Reaction of Gd(OAc)·4HO, salicylaldehyde and CHONa in MeCN/MeOH affords [GdNa(OAc)(HCO)(CO)(HO)]·9HO.0.5MeCN (·9HO.0.5MeCN), whose structure describes a quadruple-wheel consisting of two {Na} and two {Gd} rings. The magnetic properties of reveal very weak antiferromagnetic interactions between the Gd ions, which give rise to a record magnetocaloric effect at low applied magnetic fields and low temperatures. The magnetic entropy change reaches -Δ= 29.3 J kg K for full demagnetization from = 1 T at = 0.5 K.
