Remote results of 213 operations for recurrent inguinal hernias are analyzed. Repeated recurrences were noted in 58 patients (27.2%). Strengthening of the frontal wall or the posterior wall of the inguinal canal by using the inguinal ligament in recurrent inguinal hernias is responsible for high percentage of recidivation. The operation of choice is thought to be plasty of the inguinal canal after Kukudzhanov.
